July 31, 2009 is the schedule of the Wifi Launching of SM City Iloilo simultaneously done with SMs Cebu and Bacolod. This event was joined in by Iloilo Boggers Society, Some IT schools in Iloilo and the Senior Citizens. As scheduled the registration should start at 1PM but then we all got bored waiting and not even a shadow of any staff from the organizer showed up to inform us what happened until 3PM. And I’ve found out in the event’s program list that the registration was at 3PM, what a hassle for all of us who came on time and waited. Before the program started some of our blogger friends has already left with a disappointed thoughts about the event’s organizers. We patiently waited until the program finally started. We had been invigorated when the first lot of raffles were drawn with GC prizes from the sponsors. I’ve got a 200Php worth of coupon from Text Terminal but that doesn’t seem to comfort me from the worst delay. Nevertheless we were the first to test the free wifi of SM City Iloilo.

The overall activities included a Seminar about SM’s free wifi and a free tutorial for the Elderly. The tutorial included basic Microsoft Applications and Internet usage for “Lola and Lolo Techies” facilitated by STI College Iloilo. The free wifi is a great convenience though to the shoppers of SM City Iloilo within the advent of the technology today.

In the end some are pleased (especially those who came in late) and some are disgusted and some are a little tepid. Hope when SM organizes an event again especially for Bloggers they’ll make it grand and well organized. Iloilo Bloggers was not even given importance in the event compared to the counterpart event in Bacolod where Negros Bloggers were treated well. But I’m still optimistic that more events will be devised soon for Iloilo Bloggers at SM City Iloilo.
